In 1945, Woody and Dorothy Baxley began building what is now Anchor's End. The property was originally part of the "old" Ketchum town site; in fact, our part of the cove was once Ketchum's main street and the beach area was once a blacksmith's shop. Grand Lake was built as a public work's project in the late 1930s and early 1940s.

One structure from the original town site remains, the "Farmhouse." the Baxleys built the remaining portion of the resort over the next 30 years. Much of the resort remained unchanged until the late 1980s.

Anchor's End was operated as a family resort, used by thousands of people, until 1994 when the property was converted to individually-owned lake cottages and common areas. The property is now home to a new expansion of lake homes, which share common amenities. Over the years, Anchor's End has changed many times and will continue to change; however, the memories created and the family atmosphere will continue to endure.
